GoodWe supplies string inverters and MV stations for 22 MWp solar plus storage plant in Ukraine

GoodWe supplies string inverters and MV stations for 22 MWp solar plus storage plant in Ukraine-News

GoodWe has provided string inverters and medium-voltage (MV) stations for a 22.35 MWp solar power plant in Ukraine’s Zakarpattia region. The global provider of solar inverters and smart energy solutions delivered HT GW250K-HT string inverters with a total AC output of 16 MW as well as three of its MV stations.

The project was developed and implemented by Ukrainian developer and EPC Helios Strategia and was commissioned in August 2026. The now operational power plant includes a 36.78 MWh energy storage system as well as a 110/10 kV substation, allowing flexible and efficient delivery of power to the grid.

“The successful commissioning of this project marks an important step in GoodWe’s expansion in Ukraine’s solar market” said Yingge Wang, Vice President of GoodWe. “I would like to thank Helios Strategia for their trust and commend their vision and commitment to build sustainable and lasting energy infrastructure for Ukraine. Solar is a key technology to keep the power turned on in the country and we are working across the residential, commercial and industrial (C&I), as well as utility-scale sector to make it happen. GoodWe has a long-term commitment to supply the technology and provide the support needed.”

Supporting Ukraine’s Energy Infrastructure

Ukraine continues to face significant challenges in maintaining a stable and reliable supply of electricity due to the ongoing war. Solar power offers a path to a decentralised, sustainable, and modern energy infrastructure, reducing vulnerability of the power system to attacks.

“This project is not only a step towards a new decentralised energy sector, but also a demonstration of the technological readiness of Ukrainian companies to implement complex infrastructure solutions,” said Vladyslav Shevchenko, Commercial and Marketing Director of Helios Strategia. “Helios Strategia is using Tier 1 technologies, such as GoodWe inverters, to ensure long-term and safe operation and of Ukraine’s network and to reduce dependence on centralised power generation.”

Proven Technology for Utility-Scale PV

The GW250K-HT string inverter utilized in this project was developed for large C&I, as well as utility-scale PV power plants. With 12 MPPTs and two PV string inputs per MPPT, the GW250K-HT provides flexible array design and more granular management of different sections of the solar array. String-level monitoring enables operators to track system performance and identify abnormal voltage or current conditions, helping simplify troubleshooting across a large PV plant.

It also supports functions such as reactive power compensation at night, remote parameter configuration, diagnostics and firmware updates, helping reduce the frequency and cost of on-site maintenance. These capabilities are designed to support system reliability, operational visibility and lower levelised cost of energy throughout the lifecycle of a utility-scale PV project.

Medium-voltage stations for efficient power

The project uses three GoodWe MV stations, which receive the AC output from the inverters and step up the voltage from 0.8 kV to 10 kV for efficient power collection within the plant. Each station integrates a power transformer together with low- and medium-voltage switchgear in a pre-assembled containerised design.

The factory-configured solution helps simplify on-site installation, reduce construction and commissioning work, and minimise equipment integration risks. Together, the installed GW250K-HT inverters and medium-voltage stations form the project’s core PV power conversion and collection infrastructure.
